When and how will my benefits be paid?

Social Security benefits are paid each month.  The day on which your benefits are paid corresponds to the birthdate of the person whose work record you receive benefits.  If you receive benefits as a retired or disabled worker, the day is determined by your birth date.  If you receive benefits as a spouse, the day is determined using your spouse’s birth date.  If you apply and awarded benefits on or after May 1, 2011, you MUST receive your payments electronically.  There are three available options: 1) Direct Deposit; 2) Direct Express card program; 3) Electronic Transfer Account
